Surprise! I’ve got another bonus post this month, and this one is juicy. As I mentioned in previous update posts, I’ve been working on two short stories based on Marvel characters and classic horror stories for my friend’s short story collection. I’m happy to say, the collection is done and I’ve posted my two storiesContinue reading “Happy Halloween!”

An Ancient Evil Waits Dreaming
Inspired by The Call of Cthulu by H.P. Lovecraft Like ripples upon calm waters, reality warped and shifted as Doctor Strange stepped from one location and entered another. His stomach performed acrobatic somersaults as his mind reoriented itself, finally calming with a deep inhalation of salty sea air. “I swear I’ll never get used toContinue reading “An Ancient Evil Waits Dreaming”
The Devil in the Details
Inspired by Frankenstein by Mary Shelley “It’s alive! ALIVE!” Satana cackled maniacally as the steaming body of sloppily stitched together parts spastically twitched like a freshly squashed roach. Crackling lightning split the dark sky outside the large bay window, lending to the classical feeling of horror and despair synonymous with Halloween night. While the lightningContinue reading “The Devil in the Details”
It’s just about time
We’re back! And its spooky month, so I’m excited to get back into it. First off, I’m still working on the Marvel short story collection with my friend. I’ve officially completed my Doctor Strange story after three or so drafts, and I’m pretty happy with the results. I’ve never written a story this short (it’sContinue reading “It’s just about time”
Better late than never
I don’t exactly know why I completely spaced this blog post. It was supposed to go up last Friday, on the 6th, but obviously it didn’t. I even remembered all the way leading up to the day, but on the day itself (and until late last night) it didn’t even occur to me. Whoops. Anyway,Continue reading “Better late than never”
Phase 1: Complete
Welp. I did it. I did it earlier than expected, too. Coming in at a total of 88,620 words (383 pages in Word), my sci-fi zombie foray is complete. At least the first draft is complete. There’s obviously more work to be done. That’s kind of what this update is going to focus on; whatContinue reading “Phase 1: Complete”
Quick important update
This post is coming one week before my typical posting date, but I wanted to memorialize an important event. If I may direct your attention to the blog’s main page, you may notice the writing progress for the book has been updated. It is now at 100%. As of today, the first draft of theContinue reading “Quick important update”
Time to wind down
I’ll be honest, I did not expect to maintain this level of effectiveness. I wrote another 7,000 words this month, sitting at just over 81,500 total words. Not only that, I finished chapter 15 and very nearly finished chapter 16 along with it. That means there’s only one more full chapter left to write. ItContinue reading “Time to wind down”
Another success!
7,000 words! Not quite as many as last month, but a lot more than the recent average for sure. I completed chapter 13 AND chapter 14, and my current word count is sitting at roughly 74,500. I briefly started chapter 15, but I’m not very far into it yet. That means there are only threeContinue reading “Another success!”
I’ve got a fire burning
Over 8,500 words this month. That’s right. It’s been a long time since I’ve been able to write that much. I’m not entirely sure what the difference was from previous months other than I was just excited to make progress. It wasn’t even a particularly action-packed chapter either. It was just fun to write thisContinue reading “I’ve got a fire burning”
