Chase was born in Idaho, but he grew up in Utah where he was constantly getting in trouble for reading (and sometimes writing) in class. He was obsessed with books like the Redwall series by Brian Jacques, the Dragonlance Chronicles and Dragonlance Legends trilogies by Margaret Weiss & Tracy Hickman, and Harry Potter.
Chase took time away from his studies to serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Taiwan. He returned and completed a Bachelors of Art in Mandarin Chinese with a minor in Communication. He then attended law school and received his Juris Doctorate, and is currently a practicing attorney.
Chase married his wonderful and gorgeous wife Carlie who finally succumbed to his incessant begging. She is a registered nurse and works with blood cancers on the bone marrow transplant unit. They have three wonderful boys, one very spoiled little girl, and currently live in Utah.
Some of Chase’s favorite authors and influences are Brandon Sanderson, Dan Wells, J.K. Rowling, V.E. Schwab, Robin Hobb, Brandon Mull, Margaret Weiss & Tracy Hickman, Eric Nylund, Martha Wells, Jim Butcher, and Andy Weir.
