That’s right, lady and gentleman (I’m assuming there are only 2 people reading these at this point). I have an official working title finally ready for my Sci-fi zombie novel. If anyone has looked on the blog main page in the last week or two, you may have noticed the title already.
So, without further ado… The title of the book is…
Enceladus.
I know, I know. Maybe it’s a little obvious. But after months of looking through options and trying to find a title that I think fits the story, this was the best option. However, I’m not done… I also came up with the trilogy title as well!
Without further FURTHER ado… The trilogy is called…
Terminus Strain.
The fun part (at least to me) is how the name came to be. As a little background, the main “antagonist” is called the Omega Parasite. Omega, if you didn’t know, is the last letter in the Greek alphabet. It is often used to denote something that is final or the end. (Obviously the scientists who came up with that name didn’t think of the irony of naming a humanity-threatening parasite as “final”.)
Anyway, the parasite obviously evolves (no spoilers here, sorry), but the evolution is deemed the Terminus strain of the parasite. Terminus is Latin for “final” or “the end.”
Now, I’m not a historical buff or anything. But I thought it was fun to point to history in the naming scheme. Rome eventually took over and defeated Greece. So I thought it would be fun to name the evolution of the parasite shifting from Greek to Latin (which was spoken by Rome).
OK, enough nerdy geeking. But… I’m not done… I have a working title for book 2. That’s right! ANOTHER title.
Whispers of the Many.
I have some ideas for a title for book 3, but I’m not quite ready to share that one yet.
Oh, and I’m STILL not done! I felt inspired and came up with the full basic outline for book 2! I also started working on the chapter outline (which for me is essentially the last step before I’m ready to start a first draft). Things are moving, and March was busy.
Here are my hopeful plans for the foreseeable future. I was also able to get the second draft done for chapters 8 and 9 on top of everything else, which means I’m still making decent progress on finishing that by this summer. After that, I would love to get some beta readers to give me feedback on the book (more details to come on that). I would also love to get the book 2 chapter outline done by around the time the beta reading starts so I can start draft 1 for book 2 while workshopping book 1.
It was a busy month for sure. I’ve got a lot to look forward to, and I’m excited to get moving. More news to hopefully come soon as well!
